Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but my guess would be the boy is not really autistic, but the girl’s insanity has made him decide to keep all of his thoughts to himself, so therefore it comes across as “induced autism”?? still odd, but I don’t think they’re saying autism is *usually* ‘induced’

I think you are right, but the comic still seems distasteful.

I might be more offended if I knew what they were talking about, I don’t even know who Michael Savage is lol

I suppose it could be offensive because they’re obviously assuming that someone would think a person autistic just because they’re choosing to remain silent when bombarded by a hothead… but then there are a lot of people who do make ridiculous assumptions like that, and social/political commentary is all about using slightly offensive methods to point out obvious flaws… so I guess I don’t really find it offensive, just sad.

This strip was written by my blog-pal (who I have met in real life) M.D. “Cobb” Bowen. I emailed him to come by and explicate his thoughts.

I think the young man is expressing Cobb’s thoughts — the girl is trying to get all conservatives to take responsibility for the foolish words of one conservative. The next layer is that all black people are responsible for the actions of one particular black person.

I appreciate the research on this. I has never made sense. Until now!
