“All Pookies have Asperger Syndrome” is a play on Kathy Hoopman’s amazingly simple yet brilliant book All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome.

Pookie is the pseudonym for the author of these drawings, an 11-year-old girl. I have had the privilege to know and work with Pookie for three years.

These drawings have provided me an unprecedented window into Pookie’s struggles with Asperger Syndrome and Pookie’s immense growth in her understanding of her diagnosis, her strengths, and her challenges.

We want to share them with you, and we hope you enjoy.
